Fishing Report…

 Salmon & Steelhead

It’s almost all an upper river show right now on the Rogue. The middle river has been a bust due to the high water, and the run has already moved out of the lower river. That leaves the Upper Rogue as the best bet for springers. Most people are concentrating on the very upper stretch, but fish are being caught down to Shady Cove. Early mornings, and late afternoons are also the best times to fish. There hasn’t been enough springers reach the upper river to maintain good fishing all day yet. Hopefully the run is a couple weeks late otherwise we are looking at a pretty poor run based on the catches recently. That being said though there definitely are a few fish around. Both bankies and boats are picking up fish…

Diamond Lake – The ice has started to melt making fishing a bust. The ice is unsafe to go out on, and there still isn’t enough open water to get a boat out into. The resort is predicting that it will be fishable by Memorial Day weekend. If it is, fishing should be off the hook. You can check the latest from the resort on their fishing report site here: Diamond Lake Resort – Fishing Reports

Howard Prairie and Hyatt Lake – With warming water the fishing has been picking up. Fish up to 4lbs have been caught recently. Trolling has been outproducing still fishing due to the cool water temps so far this year.

Local Lakes & Ponds – You can check out when & which local lakes and ponds get stocked here: ODFW Trout Stocking Schedule. Fishing has been pretty good this year at most of the listed places such as Lost Creek Lake, Expo Ponds, and Selmac Lake. There will be another round of stocking just before free fishing weekend which will be on the 11th and 12th of June this year.

Bass & Panfish

All the local lakes and ponds have been producing fish now that temperatures have finally risen. Places like Agate Lake, Expo Ponds, and Hoover Ponds are all good bets. The crappie bite has also started and some large fish have been caught.
