Rogue Fishing Report

My largest king from the Rogue Bay

I’ve got a quick report for those river fishermen out there…

Upper Rogue – The early summer steelhead are showing in great numbers. The hatchery has already received 264 steelhead in the collection pond which is quite high for this time of year. It has also already recycled 39 of them. These fish are very aggressive and hit anything from flies, to spoons, to bait. The spring chinook fishing has slowed down quite a bit, but fish are still being caught.

Middle Rogue – Pressure has been extremely light in this section of the Rogue. Summer steelhead  and late springers are moving through, but the high water has them shooting up river.

Lower Rogue – The first good catches from the Rogue Bay in Gold Beach came in this week. The Mail Tribune reported excellent catches of fall kings on Wednesday and Thursday. The Rogue Bait rig with an anchovie has been the hot ticket. Fishing should continue to improve, but this fishery is always hit and miss.

Have a good weekend everyone and good luck if you hit the water.

Tight Lines….

  1. They are definitely moving through the Middle Rogue faster then usual as you mentioned…another thing is the temp on the middle, which was at around 62 degrees. There are Steelhead to be caught on the Middle, but your best bet is to be on the river at first light and plan on being off the river by 9am (when the Hellgate Jet Boats start moving through).

    Good Report.
