Living here in Southern Oregon we are extremely lucky to have one of our nations natural treasures running right through our backyard. The Rogue was one of the first rivers to gain the “Wild & Scenic” designation, and now you can help to protect it even further.
The Wild Rogue Alliance has been working towards protecting a part of the Rogue River canyon. The section is currently unprotected, and due to the rugged terrain has remained a road-less area. The legislation that has been introduced will keep it that way, and preserve our wild and scenic Rogue River for future generations.
With this proposal 58 thousand acres will gain the wilderness designation keeping it as a road-less area. The one maintained road will not be affected, and only 1.5 miles of dead end spur roads will be closed. They are not wanting to lock recreationists out. The goal is to protect the Rogue from logging, mining, and road building.
If you would like to help out, you can go here to sign the petition: Petition for the Wild & Scenic Rogue. By signing you are helping to ensure that the Rogue remains the salmon and steelhead producer it is today.
